Former Royal Marine and maritime explorer Dom Mee this week unveiled plans for his latest adventure.
Dom, 34, from Exmouth, will sail 2,000 nautical miles from Newfoundland back to Exmouth aboard a 'kite boat' later this summer.
A kite boat is is a revoluntionary expansion of a kite surfer which
will propel Dom across the Atlantic. The craft requires a minimum wind
speed of 5-10 knots.
Paranormal expert Uri Geller, who has
helped mentor Dom during his preparations, christened the craft by
smashing a bottle of bubbly on its bow.
The 'Kite Quest' 200 expedition is expected to take between 35 and 70 days to cross the fierce north Atlantic Ocean.
Dom outlined his daredevil plan before support staff, sponsors and guests at Elizabeth Hall on Tuesday.
Dom
said: "There are no guarantees. It's all about where the wind takes us
so we will have to hope we can bring the boat back to land here in
Exmouth where it was built."
